Public Transport Authority
Railroad traffic
The Landesnahverkehrsgesellschaft (LNVG; local and regional transport society) of Lower-Saxony is the responsible public transport authority for the major part of Lower-Saxony's public transport by rail and is owned by the federal state Lower-Saxony.
The EVB fulfils a contract on railway services with the
LNVG on the line from Hamburg-Neugraben to Bremerhaven.
The Senator for Construction and Traffic in Hamburg and the Senator for Construction, Environment and Traffic in Bremen are the responsible public transport authorities within the administrative boarders of Hamburg and Bremen.
Bus and Coach traffic
EVB serves bus and coach lines in the districts of the following public transport authority:
ZVBN: The Zweckverband Verkehrsverbund Bremen / Niedersachsen (
ZVBN) is a cooperation of six administrative districts and four cities within the boarders of the Verkehrsverbund Bremen/Niedersachsen. Through this the public transport authority level for the public transport on road and the responsibility of the various administrations following the Commission Regulation (EU) and the Personenbefoerderungsgesetz (PBefG, German act on public transport) was enlarged over the usual responsible administrative boundaries.
VNO: The communal public transport authorities in Lower-Saxonys part of the Hamburg metropolitan area (Districts of Cuxhaven, Harburg, Lüchow-Dannenberg, Lüneburg, Rotenburg (Wümme), Soltau-Fallingbostel, Stade and Uelzen) foundet the Verkehrsgesellschaft Nord-Ost-Niedersachsen mbH (
VNO, transport society of north-east Lower-Saxony ltd.) to organise, plan and coordinate questions of public transport. It is based in Stade.
But the above named administrative districts endure being legally responsible.
HVV: Public transport within the Hamburger Verkehrsverbund (
HVV) is spread over three Bundeslaender. The Bundeslaender and their communal districts are the legal public transport authorities. Thats why they are responsible to offer and finance a sufficient public transport for their citizens. To fulfil this obligation the HVV ltd. was founded. The HVV as an association at guidance and management level together with the various transport companies fulfils its task to offer a powerful and customer friendly public transport with fair fares.
