Maintenance of our railtracks
The EVB owns 261 km of railtrack. The staff of our maintenance section takes care of this network and the belonging real estate. Additionally they prepare and conduct new investments.
All 99 security facilities for railroad crossings and the railway control centre in Bremervörde is maintained and if necessary dejamed by six experts for signal installations. For a safer railway transport system new and additional security facilities for railroad crossings are added every year.
Another crew is responsible for the maintenance and repair of tracks, track switches, tunnels, bridges and for the cut of vegetation along the network.
For all works the EVB is equipped with modern machines. There are two small special trains for construction work with a crane onboard. In 2003 the fleet was completed by a Unimog that is also able to run on the railtracks. It is especially important for the cut of vegetation. We also exchanged the old rail/road excavator for a new one in the same year.
